Dax Moy: The Science of Achievement

dax-moy.gifLast night one of the United Kingdom’s most highly acclaimed and sought after Fitness Professionals, Dax Moy shared his proven goal achievement strategy with the Personal Trainer Mastery Teleseminar Series listeners. Question, how many times have you set personal goals started the process of moving in that direction and have fallen short of it’s attainment?
As  personal Trainers we see it happen time and time again among our less than 100% committed clients.  Is that to suggest that being 100% committed is the only key to achievement?

Unfortunately the answer is no…even when we start out with absolute resolve and determination in our desire to make something happen it doesn’t always tern out that way…    Why?

According to Dax Moy the Science of Achievement involves a great deal more than setting a desired target. In fact, in addition to commitment, determination, and resolve consistently achieving bigger and greater goals is a measurable 5 step process:

1. The What:  The first step in the process is to know exactly what it is that you want…your target.  Wanting to make more money simply is not a clear enough objective.  Your unconscious mind as well as the “universe” has to know PRECISELY what you after and when you intend to have it.  $100,000 by January 1st, 2008 for example. So get crystal clear on WHAT you want.

2. The Why:  You have to be clear on the deeper reasons of why you want it.  Simply wanting more money so that you can by a hot new car will very likely not be enough to sustain the energy and momentum needed over the long hall to make it happen.  There is always a deeper more emotionally charged reason for the major goals in our lives.  And if not…you won’t get it.  Dax refers to the process of finding your deeper core WHY as peeling the union.  You have to keep asking your self Why, Why, Why until you get to the emotion or real leverage behind the WHAT.  It’s been said that if we have a great enough why the how will not matter.

3.  Know the Price:  If you are going to go after something with a 100% commitment you had better know the full price you will have to pay to achieve it.  I’m not simply talking about $$$ although that does come into the equation. There are the things you will have to sacrifice…TV, play time, partying, there is the work, as well as the commitment of time it self.  All of it ads up to the price. Quite often our clients don’t fully understand the full price before they start a new fitness (goal oriented) program and end up dropping out or dropping off because they “price” was to high.

4.  Willing to Pay:  Knowing the price and being willing to pay are two very different things.  As Dax has said knowing that the Rolls Royce costs $800,000 and being fully prepared to sign the check is a crucial part of the decision making process. Not every one decides that they are willing to pay once they discover the full price for what it is they want.  Most of us have no idea the work and commitment it takes to go from here to———–way over there.  We only know we want to be over there.  You have to decide if you are willing to pay the price.

5. Pay the Price:  This is “where the rubber meets the road”. Talk is cheep up to this point. This is the point of action and is were most people fail.  Because it is very rarely that a single action “close your eyes hold your nose and jump” will get you where you want to go, although you do need the momentum of that first step.  Is only through consistent action…one step after the other that will ultimately bare us the fruit of our desire.
