“Go Take a Flying Leap”

Monday, November 10th, 2008

header-experience-the-leap.jpg

Next time someone says, “Go Take a Flying Leap.”  You should thank them!

There’s so much talk today about “taking the next step” or “going to the next level” that I’m tired of hearing about it. The truth is I have never gotten from where I was to where I wanted to be by taking some small step.

Granted every journey does begin with the first step… but for pete’s sake do you know how many small steps it takes to go from being broke to rich, from miserable to happy, from hopeless to triumphant? The truth is I don’t want to find out… I already l know it’s too many. I’ve taken thousands of small steps in my life that didn’t lead where I wanted to go.

But it took a giant LEAP to get to where I am today. To make a radical change or a quantum shift it takes a giant leap of faith. A young man telling his girl he loves her for the first time, an athlete pushing his or her body to the brink of disaster to achieve what “can’t be achieved”, a battered or abused wife finally leaving her abuser. All those things take a leap of faith, all of them take courage, and all of them lead to a better more fulfilling life.  (SHARE YOUR STORY)

My guess is that you are also ready for that giant LEAP in your own life.

If you’re tired of taking one step at a time only to find your true happiness has moved 3 steps further away then join me, Tom Terwilliger and warrior trainer, Aaron Huey for a life changing event that will have you ready to trade in that long slow march to who knows where for one giant LEAP to success and the life you deserve. Go to Experience the LEAP and register… it’s FREE.

Giving Back Can Be Fun…

Monday, October 6th, 2008

sdeattle-start.jpgLast weekend I was in Kirkland, Washington, a small very affluent waterfront town just north of Seattle hosting its 2nd Annual TTTS Race for Hope (Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome). The event was a massive success and although in the shadow of the passing off my dear friend, Steve Stone that same weekend… I had a blast.

It seems that giving back was exactly what I needed. The experience made me acutely aware of the fact that focusing on our own pain, loss, or self pity can be a major obstacle to our success, fulfillment, and happiness. Last weekend was an exercise in shifting focus from self to others. By giving something back in the form of my time and expertise to those people who needed it I received a tremendous gift in return.

little-ones-ttts.jpgWhenever we focus to deeply on ourselves especially during times of challenge our own wow’s, insecurities, and self imposed short comings are magnified. If on the other hand we were to put those things into perspective and shift our focus outward we would soon see as I did this weekend that we’re in pretty darn good shape.

The gift I received was twofold:

First, I was surrounded by survivors, children who if not by the grace of god and the miracle of modern medicine would not even be alive today. Little boys and girls who’s identical twin brothers and sisters may have sacrificed their lives for them. As well as the fortunate little ones who get to embrace their brother or sister every day. Just being around their energy was like a jolt of electricity into my system.

Secondly, I was reminded of the importance of both contribution and gratitude. In fact I was tremendously grateful for the opportunity to contribute and thrilled to have something worth contributing.

tt-finish.jpgSo when you start retreating back into yourself and begin thinking about how tough it is to get started, or keep going, and make it to the finish line… instead start making it about someone else and not you.

Start giving back and contributing to others and I believe you will find life to be a whole heck of a lot easier and a lot more fun. You’ll also discover that it’s not really about the starting line or the finish line but rather what is in between.

PS.  Yeah, that’s me lying there at the finish line… I gave it my all.

3 reasons why jumping off a giant cliff is good for your health:
Watch the video with my partner, Aaron Huey of Fire Hawk Facilitation

1. You are perfectly present in the NOW…the past and future have no power over you.
2. With your heart pounding in your throat, you feel totally alive.
3. You feel in your bones that you are a giant step closer to fearless living.

What Aaron is talking about is that moment when you release your fears you move away from all that holds you back and take that giant step forward into the life you desire even when you don’t know the outcome.

Professional Training From IDEA and Tom Terwilliger

dvd.jpg

It’s been said that “if you want to become someone new you need to learn something new.”   That’s a rule I have lived by all my life.

If you weren’t able to attend this year’s IDEA World Convention in Vegas then you missed an opportunity to learn some really great new stuff.

But it’s far from too late!  Dawn and I attended the event this year for the very first time and man did we walk away with a suitcase full of new learnings and experiences… no hotel towels and ashtrays.

One of those experiences had to do with presenting.  I was invited to teach my new 7 Rules of Achievement program for hundreds of like-minded fitness professionals just like you and me.  Of course I did so with my own unique style of teaching that really caught everyone off guard, but engrained the learning on a much deeper level.

IDEA liked the presentation so much that they very generously asked me if I wouldn’t mind it being filmed, packaged, and sold in their IDEA recourse library.  The program was presented as Keys To an Achievable Outcome and is now available on DVD for the very first time through IDEA.  Also, you can get it at a discount by ordering before September 18th.

Check This Out:  The complete 7 Rules of Achievement training program will be featured in the September issue of Muscle & Fitness and FLEX Magazine and will also be available online in September.

If you would like to pick up the IDEA DVD presentation at the discounted rate I will deduct that price from the cost of the complete 7 Rules training program should you decide you would like the complete program as well.  I know you will find it to be one of the most powerful goal achievement and coach training programs in the world and is specifically designed for fitness pros.

It’s July… How’s Your New Year’s Resolutions Coming?

Friday, July 4th, 2008

Have you ever set a goal or “resolution” for yourself than found yourself 6 months later wondering what happened? I’ve done it! A few years ago on New Year’s Eve I said I was going to “double my income in the next 12 months” only to find myself 6 months later making even less money than I did the previous first half… what da hell?

I did three things after that startling revelation that helped me turn it around so I was able to achieve my financial goal even with only 6 months of the year remaining.  Click Here Now (more…)

Kathy Smith and Bill Phillips @ Extreme Health

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

WOW
Just last week I was in Irvine, California co-hosting one of the largest and most prestigious health events in the world, Extreme Health.  Just to give you an idea of the magnitude of the event my co-host was no other than the world famous, T. Harv Eker, author of the bestselling book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind. There were over 26 amazing presenters in areas as diverse as evaluating DNA for pre-dispositions of disease, to building muscle with re-bounding, to pulse reading.  Check out who I hung out with
Even I′ve been in the fitness industry for well over 25 years and involved in the media for almost as long I haven′t had the opportunity to meet many of the industries legends.

Kathy SmithKathy Smith is one of those legends.  Certainly being able to spend some time with Kathy at Extreme Health was one of the events highlights for me. At 50 plus, Kathy still looks amazing and is a true testimonial to what is possible for almost anyone.  Kathy was a real sweetheart and rolled with the punches when her visual PowerPoint failed to come up on the screen.  Of course her flirtation with me was shameless and I think I may have broken her heart when (more…)

Shawn Phillips: Developing Inner Confidence…

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

Transcripts from the “Personal Trainer Mastery Series” interview with Tom Terwilliger conducted by Shawn Phillips

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, ‘I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.’ You must do the thing you think you cannot do.”

Shawn: Although he′s been your host for the past 5 weeks.I don′t really know how much you know about our guest tonight.  So allow me to share a few things you may or MAY NOT know about the man himself, Tom Terwilliger (more…)
